I have had a life-long interest in a variety of arts and crafts, but didn稚 settle into painting until I was 25. Over the next 24 years I have honed and perfected my skills, but have not yet stopped learning. There are so many media and techniques yet to be enjoyed, but my main love is watercolor painting.

Living in a rural setting near sky blue lakes, ponds, and virgin prairie meadows, my paintings are influenced by my interest in nature. The subjects of my paintings range from wildlife, wildflowers, sunsets, rural landscapes and local scenes, to picturesque summer and winter views of fishing on Minnesota lakes.

When I知 not painting the out-of-doors, I知 either photographing it or gardening in it. My husband and I created a water feature that is a focal point of the gardens that surround our home. Crystal clear water spews from the mouth of a blue dragon, over the waterfall and into a 14 foot-long pool where a kaleidoscope of gold and white goldfish frolic amidst the water lilies.

I have been a member of the Glacial Ridge Artists for 25 years. A club of 47 artists spread throughout west central Minnesota, and I am currently the coordinator and newsletter editor. Over the years I have competed in numerous art shows in the tri-state area and won several awards. My works can be found in the permanent collections of the Fergus Falls Community College, the Viking Library System, and in private collections in New York, Texas, and throughout Minnesota.

The artwork of Sandy O達rien can be viewed at the Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance Gallery in Morris, MN; the Point-of-View Gallery in Alexandria, MN; at her home studio (appointment only) by calling 320-634-0172, or on the web at Minnesota Artists Online.
